Dustin Garrett's Bio

DUSTIN GARRETT & THE TEXAS CRUISERS

Fiery lead solos in the style of Stevie Ray Vaughan accentuate the critically-acclaimed performances of singer-songwriter, Dustin Garrett.  Performing on stage since he was 2 years old, Dustin has already acquired an impressive list of performance venues to be envied by seasoned musicians, including The Grand Ole Opry and the General Jackson Showboat in Nashville, Tennessee, where he was a guest solo singing artist at age 10.  Born in Waylon Jennings’ hometown of Littlefield, Texas , Dustin mastered classic rock ‘n’ roll and traditional country music early on.  His first album “There’s A Party Tonight” (the title track, an original song by Dustin and Mike Garrett) recorded in Lubbock, Texas , featured songs of Buddy Holly.  Dustin performs with the excitement of youth and the energy of an atomic bomb.  He can’t touch a guitar without making heads turn.  Dustin is also a songwriter member of ASCAP.

The Texas Cruisers were formed in 1999, and the band includes Mike Garrett on rhythm guitar (aka “Barney”), Joe Kline playing bass guitar, and newest member Cody Hester on drums.  As a singer-songwriter, Mike Garrett (Dustin’s father) has played guitar and performed since 1979.   Joe Kline is also songwriter (ASCAP) and college professor.  Cody Hester's high-powered drum solo is a feature of many shows.

Dustin Garrett & The Texas Cruisers are sure to engage and entertain any crowd.  Their mix of Texas blues, classic rock, and country satisfies the most demanding musical appetites.  Dustin is truly a creative musician.  One crowd favorite is an impromptu (made up on the spot) song using topics suggested by the audience.   Both Dustin and Cody attend the world-renown commercial music program at South Plains College - a program revered for producing many Grammy winners.
